The BLACK RHINOCEROS (Diceros bicornis) is native to the eastern and central areas of Africa including Kenya, Tanzania, Cameroon, South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Angola. Although the rhino was referred to as black, it is actually more of a grey/brown/white color in appearance. The species overall is classified as ´critically endangered`.
The Black Rhinoceros had been pushed to the brink of extinction by illegal poaching for their horn, and to a lesser extent by loss of habitat.

Basically I used a portrait shot of a black rhino inside of a silhouette of African continent with it`s horn into the ´horn of Africa`... natural horn is surrogated through carved horn ... the bird Marabu as a symbol of starving ... harvester and big city as symbols for consumption of land and loss of habitat ... skull of ´Lucy`(Australopithecus) as a detection of the first human beings on earth in Kenya ... African fabric for framing and African landscape for background ... endangered Africa.
